RELEASE: Coalition Holds Free Costume Giveaway Event to Provide Relief to Working Families Impacted by Skyrocketing Health Care Costs

Event started conversations about Republicans’ failure to extend tax credits, making affordable health insurance a nightmare for Lehigh Valley families

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania – On Saturday, October 25, at 11 a.m., a coalition of grassroots, progressive, and economic security advocacy organizations held a “Monsters, Masks and Medical Bills” Halloween Costume Giveaway to lift up local voices, connect neighbors with one another, and provide relief to Pennsylvanians faced with skyrocketing health care costs next year as a result of congressional Republicans’ failure to extend critically needed tax credits. The event was held at the Bethlehem Public Library.  (See pictures below.)

As a result of Republicans’ failure to act, Pennsylvanians’ health care costs could skyrocket by nearly 40%. Organizers of this event are demanding that Rep. Ryan Mackenzie break with Donald Trump and the extreme MAGA Republican congressional leadership in Washington and work across the aisle to head off these cost increases.

In the face of skyrocketing costs, organizations including the Pennsylvania Policy Center, Pennsylvanians Together, Action Together NEPA, For Our Future PA, Affordable PA, Moms Rising Together and Americans for Good Policy are coming together to provide families with free Halloween costumes for their kids and an opportunity to help them raise their voices and demand action from Mackenzie and his Republican friends in Congress.
